OBX beach stay
Stay was great but not happy with the Saturday 4pm to get in the house and Saturday out by 10am times. If your telling folks to get out by 10am why are they not able to check in until 6 hrs later at 4pm, pretty much lost Saturday on arrival because of the late check in. I had a lady (not the cleaning crew) show up at the property before 10am on our check out day, not happy!

This Is the second year we have rented this property. It lis an ideal location in a quiet neighborhood. There were a few problems during our stay ; the first was ants, which maintenance came over and quickly sprayed (we also saw a few cockroaches). The microwave was not working; it started snapping and smoking and then stopped working altogether. We contacted maintenance, who verified that the microwave would need to be replaced. We found rocks and pebbles in the dryer vent which we had to clean out. Would be nice if the washer/dryer were replaced with newer items; they were very loud and clunky sounding. The refrigerator was small for the number of people and definitely needs to be updated!

The house was an excellent location for everything we needed! Close to grocery stores, restaurants, shopping, and activities. There was enough room for all of to spread out and relax or just have quiet time when we needed it. The main deck was lovely (my only wish was that there was an umbrella!), and we were able to take beautiful pictures of the sunrise and sunset off the ocean from the crow's nest! The owners thought of everything we could have needed to make our stay pleasant, and the home was very clean and well-appointed. We definitely will return in the future!

Beachfront with convenience
While the weather could have cooperated a bit more during our stay, Somerset offers a cozy interior that is close to shopping, stores, and activities. It's perfect for a small group or family looking to enjoy the best of Corollas stunning beach.

Just What We Needed
We had rented the original Somerset several times in the past, but the last time was about 13 years ago. My husband & I along with my brothers and sister in law were so eager to see the beach again with the "new-old" house, and we loved the changes with the old Somerset charm still there. We did miss having a clothesline on the deck, but that was minor. There was construction happening during the day to both left and right of us,so hopefully that's done soon. Last thing is the AC kind of made a clunking noise when it would kick on and off,not sure if it was the ducts or a filter. Was glad for the AC, but I'm a light sleeper so wish that noise could be managed. Was so glad for this trip, thank you!

Nice place!
Home was very nice. Excellent condition. Open floor plan. Located on a cul-de-sac. Could not see the beach and ocean from the lower level. From the upper deck you could see the ocean. The walkway and two sets of stairs were in need of a little repair.

Love Section A of Ocean Sands
We enjoyed incredible weather during our week at Somerset. The accommodations were nicely updated and as described. Everything was very clean on arrival. Kitchen was adequately equipped. We are used to bringing our own food and supplies but were surprised that not even salt and pepper were found. The open concept was appealing but we would have appreciated a few extra feet in the bedrooms and bathrooms. Seating at large dining table was a benefit. Another huge plus is the size and uncrowded beach and a big reason why we choose Ocean Sands A,B,or C. Being ocean front I think there should be a warning about the height of the dunes and number of steps needed to get to that awesome beach. Families with less mobile seniors could be disappointed with the trek. A few stairs to the beach need addressing to avoid accidents for guests of any age. We did not experience any of the bug issues other reviewers cited. The mini trek to Harris Teeter was very welcomed. Another surprise was the lack of information concerning what actually is acceptable in the recycling bin; only the days of pick up. For the price I would have liked to see linens and at least a few beach chairs provided. All in all it was a delightful week in the Outer Banks.

Goodbye to Somerset
We have always enjoyed our stays at Somerset, before and after the renovation. This will be our last stay, though. I think the much higher cost, post renovation, significantly exceeds the added value.
Everything about the house and our stay was great. There is one exception to this. For the past two years the DVD player was partially inoperative, making it very difficult to play movies. The remote for the DVD was totally inoperative, making features like subtitles unavailable. For the price we paid, I expected more. If it were mine, I'd replace the DVD with a new full featured one.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Somerset on the Outer Banks. The weather did not always cooperate, but we did get the whole Outer Banks experience. When it is beautiful, it is really beautiful; but when Mother Nature is upset, she lets you know it! Our rental was clean and well arranged. My whole family enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful Stay
Somerset is a beautiful, well appointed home in the perfect location. Storage space was plentiful and well thought out. Beds were so comfortable we meant to check for a brand so we could buy one for home! All the furniture was tasteful and comfortable.
We had a minor maintenance issue and the management company as great about it.
We really loved this house, The beach is just a stone’s throw away & lifeguard station on too far away. Beach was beautiful & not crowded. Morning coffee in the crows nest was spectacular; ocean view with birds & dolphins. Evening sky was gorgeous.
Be ware, tons of midges at night. We kept the outside lights off but the sliding glass door was still covered in them and they either come in the house and fall to the floor to die, or they pile up on the floor by the door outside.
Improvements - screened in area on the porch or below and a hot tub or pool.
We would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful beach home!
Somerset was the perfect home for my family vacation. This home was well appointed, the open floor plan made the home feel spacious, and was roomy enough for more than me and my 3 family members. We had a few days of bad weather but enjoyed watching movies in the comfy living room or playing cards on the huge dining table. The house was located in a quiet cul de sac. We loved riding our bikes in the neighborhood and loved that we were located right on the bike trail too. We could ride our bikes to the store easily and safely. The crows nest was a great place to read a book and drink my coffee with an unobstructed view of the ocean in the mornings. The beauty of the home and the perfect location made this a much needed, relaxing vacation.

Perfect Beachfront Home
We absolutely loved Somerset. My family tries to make it out to the Outer Banks for the Summer and this year we had a new baby in tow. The fact that the home sits right next to the neighborhood beach access made trips to the ocean easy and quick. The home itself had a wide open great room where friends and family could mingle from back deck to living room all the way to the kitchen. Only thing you have to look out for is the bugs come night time, they can be quite assertive.
All in all we would absolutely come back to Somerset. We had a blast.
