Castle In the Sand

We had a great time at Castle in the Sand! The home was beautiful and we had so much space to relax with a large group. The kitchen was very well equipped and the beds were comfortable. The private walk out to the beach made our days down by the water with two little ones extremely easy. The rental company was also very easy to work with. We had an issue with the pool heat a day after we got there and it was corrected within an hour and no hassle. If we make the trip down to the Outer Banks again, we will definitely use this company and look to stay at Castle in the Sand!

This is our second year in this wonderful home. The property is well-maintained and stocked with everything you could possible EVER need. The home is clean, the rooms spacious and comfortable. Nice, needs a little updating

The house easily accommodated 11 people. The location was great however, the main road stays quite busy and be difficult to pull out at times. The overall vacation was perfect getting up every morning walking the beach and watching the beautiful sunrises. The house does need some updating like new fixtures, faucets and all the furniture was worn. Some of the beds in the rooms are due to be replaced. It wasn't overly clean upon arrival, and we wiped somethings down. We defiantly left it cleaner then it was on arrival. The only real issue was the built in oven was broken upon arrival and we didn't get any emails indicating this and considering it was Easter we found it quite difficult to pull together Easter dinner in 2 toaster ovens. Overall we enjoyed our stay and wished that it hadn't ended so soon.

If you're looking for the perfect sunrise, this location cannot be beat, as they are spectacular here. The heated pool and hot tub was clean, at the perfect temperatures and provided lots of after noon fun. The movie/game room provided lots of evening entertainment.

Overall, this property provided great memories and I would highly recommend staying here.

The only con, which did not affect this group at all, is that some of the furniture has been very well loved and the home could use a little TLC here and there, which can be expected from a very popular rental home. Nothing major.

Castle in the Sand Is a Great Beachfront Rental

Our family loved our family vacation at Castle in the Sand! This oceanfront home in Southern Shores was perfect for our extended family of 14, ages 6 to 67. With 7 bedrooms and 7 and 1/2 baths, there was plenty of space to spread out, but we could easily congregate in the large living room and family movie room, with large-screen TV, movie chair recliners, pool table, arcade, and refrigerator/sink. There was even an elevator available when we needed it! Family diners were a pleasure due to the large dining area overlooking the ocean and a gourmet kitchen with 2 ovens, 2 sinks, 2 dishwashers and a large under counter ice maker. The kitchen was well-stocked with dishes, cookware and utensils, and we didn’t need anything that wasn’t available. We also made good use of the outdoor gas grill! The outdoor area was great, with a pool, hot tub, kiddie pool, open air beach shower, private outdoor shower and bathroom, loungers and a short walk to the beach, where dolphins cavorted each day and ghost crabs played in the sand. From our upper and lower decks, we could watch the sunrise over the ocean each morning and the moon over the ocean at night. It is a quick drive north to Duck and Corolla or South to Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head. Our activities included swimming, walking on the beach, surf lessons, sand surfing at the largest dunes on the east coast, shopping, riding vehicles on the beach in Corolla and photographing the wild horses of Corolla. We even successfully escaped from a local escape room and enjoyed the famous Duck doughnuts! The staff at Beach Realty provided prompt responses to our questions and were very supportive and friendly. We couldn’t have asked for a better family vacation and one that we will remember with a smile!

the weather was cold and wet during our visit but the house was great for our needs. we had a total of 15 people ( adults and childeren) and the house provided lots of space for everyone to either come together or split off in separate groups. The only negative was wifi connectivity which was not great.

Perfect!!

We had a fantastic time at Castle in the Sand! We have 7 children and 7 grandchildren. We fit in the house perfectly and had room to spare. We didn't feel crowded at all. The location is beautiful. Everything was clean and in working order. The game room was a nice way to wind down a long day at the beach and pool. We absolutely loved it!!!

Our rental experience was overall very good ... one shower in our house could have been a lot cleaner and one other shower didn’t drain very well but over all the house was great

Perfect vacation home on the beach!

Truly enjoyed a week in the lovely Castle in the Sand. Our family loved the space and the large picture windows overlooking the beach! Enough room to eat and have a game/puzzle table. Great theater room for watching movies and our daughter loved playing packman. The location is perfect for sunrise walks to the Kitty Hawk Pier. My favorite part of the trip! Beautiful large bedrooms, four with ocean views December is wonderful in the Outer Banks.

We had a wonderful time with family. The house has a fantastic views and ample room for everyone to feel comfortable. Everyone loved the game room with the cozy recliners and pool table. The kitchen was great and had everything we needed. The pool and hot tub were a wonderful bonus! The only thing would probably update the main living area near the kitchen with a bigger TV (not that we watched much with the beach so close. The house size and proximity to the ocean were as advertised and simply gorgeous.The ocean view and sunrises were spectacular.Bedrooms and bathrooms met our expectations. The kitchen and great room were spacious and open with plenty of room for the 18 members of our family. The ice maker was an unexpected surprise. Two refrigerators and two dishwashers were very valuable as we entertained throughout the week. The pool and hot tub were very nice with an unexpected mid week cleaning. Washer and dryer got much use. More than enough parking and shopping was very close. On the negative side, the outside deck and house siding needed attention. Walkway to the beach and area around the house needed weed control. Wifi strength and connectivity was poor. Inside furniture was somewhat worn down. Only one of three vacuums worked properly. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.

Outstanding Outer Banks Family Vacation

Overall, the house and property were perfect for our family reunion. We had so much fun catching up, playing in the ocean, pool, and hot tub, exploring community attractions, eating out and in, shore fishing, watching the ghost crabs and best of all, night viewing of leatherback laying her eggs.
