Vacation gives us the perfect opportunity to spend some quality time with the family! What's a better bonding experience than playing games together? Encourage some friendly competition on the beach or in the backyard with these fun summer games!
Cornhole
This may be the South's favorite summertime game! Corn hole consists of two wooden boards spread apart. The boards have holes in them, and in teams of 1 or 2, you try to make the bag on the board or in the hole. It's a great option for small or large events! Every year we have a cornhole tournament at our end-of-season staff party. Some of our rental homes have sets offered, or you can rent them through Ocean Atlantic Rentals.
Giant Jenga
Giant Jenga is the perfect outdoors game with minimal rules to follow and great for a larger group. You can find large sets at Walmart or on Amazon. If you like this game, you may also be interested in large dominos.
Bocce Ball
This game would be fun on the beach or in the backyard. It can be played one on one or in groups of two, three, or four. Basically, one of the teams throws the jack (white ball) into your designated court area then team members take turns throwing the bocce balls in the court trying to get it as close to the jack as possible. Spikeball
Spikeball is similar to volleyball but with a smaller ball and a small round net that is on the ground. It is great to play on the beach because you end up falling over diving for the ball. You can find it on Amazon or if you are already on the Outer Banks, try Kitty Hawk Kites.
Volleyball
Volleyball is a popular summer activity! Play on the beach or in the backyard. It's fun for kids and adults, and it's great for many people to play. You can find a portable volleyball net at Walmart or Amazon. Some of our rental homes have volleyball courts set up in the backyard!
Frisbee
A classic game with no setup and lots of fun to play! Perfect for days with a slight breeze. If you forgot to bring one with you grab one of our Beach Realty frisbees from your check-in office. Dogs will like this game too!
Virtual Sports
If playing outside in the heat isn't your thing or it's raining, you should check out Turf's Up! They offer hundreds of sports and game simulation options.
