First Fully Handicap Accessible Beach Access in Kill Devil Hills

After years of planning, Kill Devil Hills has finally announced the first fully handicap accessible beach access on the Outer Banks! Its the Ocean Bay Public Access at milepost 8.5. It includes a wooden handicap ramp, several fixed position maps, roll out mats, and three wheelchairs for anyone to borrow and enjoy the water!

New Bonner Bridge over Oregon Inlet

The Bonner Bridge has finally been replaced and is no longer under construction. The new bridge is named after Marc Basnight. The bridge is 2.8 miles long and is 90 feet tall at it's highest point. Currently, the old bridge is being taken down piece by piece. Enjoy driving over it on your way to visit Hatteras!

Newborn Wild Horses in Carova

So far this year, two foals have been born into the Carova wild horse herd. One boy named Renzi and a girl named Rosie (pictured above). They are naming all horses born in 2019 with names beginning in the letter R in memory of Roamer, a wild horse that died earlier this year.
