Great week at a great home. This was our second year at the Beachcomber. Family cannot travel next year and tried to schedule for the 2025 Labor Day week unsuccessfully.

Wonderful home
Our group was Three families with 2 kids each. This home was perfect for us. The rooms were perfect for each kid to have a bed, 2 kids shared a double. Ages ranged from 8-13. We were close to an ice cream store that we allowed the kids to bike to on their own. The streets were not busy, the only cars lived there and were cautious drivers. We had several rainy days but there was plenty to do inside- they played in the game room, video games and everyone loved that the hot tub was enclosed- no bugs, no weather worries and very convenient. It was a quick walk to the beach on a nice walkway and the beach views from the balcony was nice- you could just see the water but there weren’t any pictures online to show you could see the water from the main level of house. Standing in the kitchen we could see the white caps in the water and the red flag at lifeguard stand for no swimming. The beds were just ok, I would have been much happier if I brought my own pillow. Not having my own pillow in a slightly uncomfortable bed did not make for the best night sleep. We are hoping to stay again next year and I will be bringing my own pillow and a few knives from home- the ones there are very dull and we cooked a lot of family meals

Great family vacation
The house overall is very nice. The great room furniture is showing much wear on the rattan couch and loves eat. The fridges are fine. Pool area needed cleaned...lots of debris and I could find no broom to clean it up. We discovered a septic problem and reported it. They were prompt to address it. We had a wonderful time.

Perfect location
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our week at Beachcomber in Whalehead. The home had a great view of the sunset from the crow's net every night and a spectacular view of the sunrise every morning at 545 from the wall of windows in the living room facing the ocean. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed. The beach was one block away. The 5 bedrooms were roomy and nicely furnished. Beach Realty was very responsive to our questions and concerns. Overall I would recommend this house for families.

Family Review
We have been coming to OBX for a family summer vacation for 6 years. This house is the first one that we felt checked all the boxes for family vacation... but... I have learned that it will not be leasing out in 2021. We are saddened by that... here we go again, trying to find another house like this one that checks all the boxes for the family.

Great house with lots of space just steps from the beach!
My family really enjoyed our stay at the Beachcomber, particularly the pool (which is bigger than it looks in the pictures!) and the extra spaces (e.g., captain's watch and basement level game room) so that we could spread out a little. The walk to the beach is so short. You can get a glimpse of the ocean from the upper level of the house, and especially from the eagle's nest. The house was well-equipped and had everything we needed to cook meals. It was clean and the furniture was comfortable. The only issue we had was that when we arrived, the sheets for the beds had not been put inside the house and there were no instructions as to where they might be. We found a bag of unfolded sheets in the box marked "linens" outside the house, but those turned out to be dirty. We called the realty company to request new sheets, but they never came by (or if they did, they did not knock or ring the doorbell). Fortunately, we eventually opened the other box outside marked "for cleaning crew only" and found clean sheets inside. Other than that, we had a great stay, and we would recommend the Beachcomber!

We had issue with the A/C and it was fixed in a reasonable time. The best part was that we didn't waste our whole day. Beach Realty said go about your day and we will call you when the technician will arrive. We also brought our dog and it was a perfect house for her as well. Plenty area around the home outside to walk her. The houses amenities were so enjoyable. We can't wait till next year to be back at the Beachcomber.
