Can’t wait ‘til next year!
What a great week! We’ve been coming to OBX every summer for the last 14 years with our dogs, and this house was hands down our favorite. Our dogs really enjoyed the fenced in grass, the walk to the beach was easy, and the house had everything we could want. We’ve already booked for next year, and can’t wait to come back.

Happy Dog Days was a fantastic house for us. And by saying pet friendly, this owner really meant it. So many details - from the biggest water bowl ever - to the enclosed grassy yard and a pool - plenty of hoses to clean up the doggies - it was great for all the family!!! We will be back and vote 5 stars for everything

Happy Dog Day Vacation
Our visit was very nice. The house was fairly clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the location of the beach house as it was located very close to many places we wanted to see and shop. The beach access was great!
Our furry companions enjoyed the property too.
I think the elevator was a fantastic way to fully access the different levels especially for some of our elderly family.
Kitchen was great..pool and hot tub were thoroughly enjoyed.
Overall experience was excellent!!
The staff at Beach Realty were wonderful to deal with and we had no problems.
We would recommend this property to others.
I would however suggest updating furniture and sofas on 3rd level as they have been "enjoyed" alot it would appear.

Perfect winter beach trip
The house met all of our family’s needs. The elevator allowed for older generations to attend. Our dog was able to go with us on the trip and renting Happy Dog Days made that possible. Communication with the realty company during our stay was easy and effective. The location of the house was convenient to north and south Outer Banks beaches and parks.

We had a great experience at this rental. It’s rare to find a rental that welcomes pets, let alone one that is centered around pets. We had a blast! Steps from the beach, we’ll-stocked rental. The backyard pool and dog-space was exceptional. The house was absolutely spotless, which is impressive given that it is pet-friendly. Rental company was responsive to maintenance concerns. Elevator was not working during our stay, but company communicated issues ahead of rental. Would 10/10 recommend.

Super cute house with an easy walk to the beach
We truly enjoyed this house. It’s perfect for a larger family. The pool was lovely. Having the fenced in backyard was a luxury for a beach vacation with your dogs. The house is close to so many things, restaurants, ice cream and grocery stores. Most of all close to the beach! A quick walk across the street to the public access with parking (we didn’t use it) and there were not any steps to reach the beach!! A huge plus with several little kids in tow. One downside is that area of the beach has the storm drain so it’s recommended not to swim within 200 feet. Kitchen is well stocked, sharp knives, awful frying pans but that’s expected. The pool area seriously feels like a beach oasis with palm trees and rose bushes. It’s very pretty back there. There is fence and secure gate around the pool to keep little ones out. The house is very cute with all its dog decorations and the master bath on the top level is huge with double shower heads. We would definitely stay at this house again.

Nice place!
Perfect for what we were looking for in a vacation. Beach access right across the road. Pool and hot tub serviced three times during a week so very consistent.Landscape is beautiful but causes debris in pool when high winds come through. We like it here.

Had a great time at a very dog friendly rental. Perfect location and great stuff around you. Lucky 12 is a great pub down the street and you are 8 minutes from the golf course. Bonus we had a St. Patrick’s Day parade directly infront of us on Sunday! ☘️

A different type of vacation
We loved this house. This is the first time that we came down in the offseason fully understanding that this was not going to be a beach trip. This was a getaway for my wife's birthday with friends to just relax. This house was perfect for our needs. We got spoiled by the elevator and have said that any rental we do going forward will have to have an elevator.
The only things that we brought up during our stay is that the lighting in the top floor is dark. The lights were very dim. Directions on how to use the surround sound and fireplace would have been helpful and the front door on the top floor was not well insulated. You could feel the draft on the other side of the room. None of these are deal breakers for us and just things that we mentioned.

Awesome Home
My Family and I had the greatest time staying in this home. It was perfect for our dogs. Centrally located on the island so seeing sites in either north or south was so easy. Only a walk across street to beautiful beach. Great fenced area for the doggies to run and do their business. I highly recommend this home. Also Beach Realty does a exceptional job with communication and updates about services (trash pickup etc...)

Happy Dogs Day, great location, very convenient set up.
We love the pool. Noted they added hoses to the middle and top deck. The fenced yard works well for our vacation. We've stayed here every summer for a week since 2017. Some of the furniture is getting a little worn, but that is to be expected. Everything takes a beating at the beach.

Pawsitively Awesome!!
Great place for both 2 legged and 4 legged family members! Comfortable beds, great pool to enjoy the warmer days. The dogs loved the play area which was very convenient and safe to avoid escaping. Despite the cold weather we still really loved our getaway. May need to update a few pieces of furniture but other than that there where no major issues and we will definitely make a trip back in the future.

Great Home
My boyfriend and I recently stayed at Happy Dog Days for a week in December. The trip was last minute and the staff at Beach Realty were extremely helpful to help get us In a house on short notice. The home was very clean, especially considering that the home is a pet friendly home. While we didn’t utilize the pool or hot tub due to the outdoor temperature, those would be great features to have during the warmer months. We were very pleased with our stay and the home overall! It was a very nice property!

Happy Dog Days Was Perfect for all of us!
Every one enjoy there stay here! It was perfect for the amount of people that came. We did not feel cramped up at all. We had one issue about the TV and it was fixed that day, so it really was not an issue because the staff at beach realty was great! We will definitely be back!!

Covid Getaway to Nags Head
My husband and I along with our two dogs just returned from a week away at the Happy Dog Days home in Nags Head. The home was just as described in the listing and is obviously super Dog Friendly. We absolutely loved the fenced in yard for our pups! Pros: Clean, Spacious home that is right across from the beach. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms and the elevator came in handy when lugging heavy bags and coolers! Cute game room with Bumper pool and Card table and the Pool and Hot tub were perfect. Cons: As others have mentioned, the deck(s) could use some updating. They are "weathered" from being near the beach and probably due for replacement or major overhaul. Several loose boards, nails sticking up and loose railings. We do not have children, so was not a HUGE concern for us, but I can see that being a concern for families with kids. We did run into some maintenance issues with the Oven door getting stuck and not being able to open easily - Beach Realty was responsive and we did get that resolved quickly. Had a few other minor mishaps with the Cable and Hot tub - but nothing that was a deal breaker. Only other Con is that the house does not provide any beach items - i.e. beach chairs, umbrella, beach tote, etc. Just an FYI. Overall, it was a great getaway for us and the dogs and had everything we needed and wanted in a getaway!

We had backed up drains on the second floor. We notified Beach Realty and it was fixed the next day. This was a great rental especially if you love dogs as much as we do.

our family loved staying at the Happy Dog Days. We had our two granddaughters there. They loved it. we brought our dogs. The beach was right across the street. vey close to stores restaurants. We would go back. the to cons were the master Bed squeaked very bad. The loud sound from it would wake you and your partner. Needs a new frame. The pool was nice but way too cold as we had heated pools in sept. from other rentals before and were warm, this was cold. over all this house was in a great location, and had everything.

We were very happy in the house! It was clean. Having a washer/dryer on the second floor was very convenient. The kitchen was well-stocked. We spent a lot of time in the pool and hot tub! The WiFi could be a bit spotty. It would be helpful to have instructions for the TVs (especially the ones with multiple remotes). My husband had to unravel the volleyball net from the pole, and it could use replacing as it’s getting a bit ratty. We would stay here again! The walk to the beach is easy!

Amazing Vacation rental
The house was amazing. I was a little concerned due to some of the previous. Reviews but I spoke with Susan and she ensured me all the issues were addressed. All the beds were comfortable and they just installed a new dish washer. The fenced inlet yard was a huge plus. Amazing views and a short walk to the beach. The owners heated the pool so we lucked out with good temps and we were able to use it. Are is awesome.. close to everything. Loved all the pup pictures through out the house. The house was clean and cozy. Hope to rent again soon. Thank you so much for allowing us to enjoy the area.

Happy Dog Days for a lazy, restful getaway
This was the first time we stayed here but definitely will not be our last. My entire family’s consensus was this was the most “comfortable” feeling vacation home where we have stayed. Pool, hot tub, family, dogs and ocean across the street what more can you ask for. All the comforts of home. Did need to have the hot tub fixed, however repair was made in less than 24 hours. House could use a new dishwasher and a 3rd floor mattress for master bedroom, but these things won’t stop us from coming back. See you Happy Dog Days in 2020!

Another wonderful stay at Happy Dog Days!
This was our second stay at this property. It was as wonderful as I remember. The house is clean and comfy. This place is a must stay for those traveling with their pups. The fenced in yard is great for the dogs to play and enjoy their time at the beach. Very close to a public beach access point and many restaurants and stores in the vicinity.
Just a few things we noticed: The dishwasher silverware basket needs replaced due to holes causing the silverware to fall through, the electric can opener did not work and there was no manual one, and the pooper scooper in the yard was broken.
Other than that, this is a great home to rent. We loved our vacation and the time we spent at this house.

Love this house!!!
We had yet another great stay in this house. The yard is beyond compare if you have dogs. Somehow they have kept the horrible burrs out of their grass. We had two weeks of beautiful weather, only rain one night (part of hurricane Michael). This house is great, good bed situation.

Our stay at Happy Dog Days was great. We had three generations of family visiting during the week at different intervals and everyone was comfortable. This is really a terrific house! The heated pool was great, as the ocean was a bit chilly earlier during our stay. I loved that there was a master bedroom on the top floor; this made our stay much easier. The only thing was that the bed frame in this room was larger than the mattress, which resulted in me hitting my shins almost every night when going to bed.

AWESOME time! The whole family and our dog had a great week!
I loved this house. The most comfortable beds! Love the King size and large dual shower upstairs. Wonderful TV and cable selections. Loved the fireplace/gas logs. Our dog really enjoyed the house. Only a few maintenance things but were addressed/brought to attention. Pool heat was nice but could need a look routinely. Back deck could use a little care on some boards and some of the tiles inside home by front deck door. More patio furniture and/or cushions but comfortable chairs and tables. Loved the dog décor, comfortable sofa, loved the elevator. Nice amenities. Would stay here again. Great location. Stove may need to be replaced at some point. I am used to gas but electric oven appears to heat up more on back side of oven. Does have coffee maker but not Keurig. Nice to use ground coffee for a change. Overall loved the place, would stay here again. Thank you!

Loved it!!
We really enjoyed the cottage and the pool. Our dogs were very comfortable and enjoyed having the play area. The kitchen had plenty of pots and pans for cooking. It was nice having the two refrigerators as well. My mother has a bad knee and the elevator worked out very well for her. I have no complaints. We had plenty of towels and the public access to the beach was right across the street. We will most likely like to rent again, but unsure when next year.

Pawsitivly Amazing!
This house was truly amazing. The house was very clean. Beds were super comfy. Home decor was super cute. Pool was a hit with the kids (young & old). I honestly felt at home in this house. Most rentals do not have that homey feel, but this house did for your family. Beach is steps away which was very convenient.

We decided at the last minute to visit the outer banks for our vacation. What a great decision. We could not have been happier with the house, pool, and location. My grandchildren thought the dog theme throughout was fantastic.
The house was very clean and the kitchen was nicely stocked.
Our entire family is looking forward to booking the same house for 2018.

Happy Dog Days is a wonderful beach house. It's location is perfect - near the pier, the ocean, shops, and in the nicest part of Nags Head. The house is decorated and furnished beautifully. It was sparkling clean when we arrived, and maintenance responded quickly to minor issues (eg. Light bulb replacement, fixed a fence latch), even coming on a Sunday when minor repairs are generally held until the next weekday. It was hands down the best vacation we've ever taken, and we will definitely be booking Happy Dogs Days again.

A dog lovers dream!!!
Beautiful home with all the amenities that a person could ask for. Loved the hot tub, but we really wished the pool had of been warm enough to get in. It was supposed to be heated but the weather was so cold that if it was, you definitely could not tell. Other than that, it was a very nice relaxing week! My kids loved going through the house looking at all of the dog pictures and decorations. All in all, just what we needed!!! Thanks!!

Relaxing with your best "puppy" friend

One Happy Dog
My wonderful owner rented a Beach house just for me No more staying in a strange place with no couch, strange people walking and feeding me. It was wonderful, a huge backyard for me run and do my business in. There was even my own plastic pool just like their pool. That is what I call a real dogs life.

Doggie paradise
7 adults, 5 children, and 5 dogs stayed at Happy Dog Days and loved every minute of it. The house was clean and had enough space for all of us to spread out. The separate dog area was great - and so was the paw-shaped pool! Only complaint was the lack of kitchen necessities - salt/pepper, paper/aluminum foil products, etc. It was not as well-stocked as some of the other properties in which we have stayed in the past.

In saying that, there is a required items list that is checked prior to the season starting. Before the house is available for rent, the list must be checked off in it's entirety. Unfortunately, guests sometimes remove these items during their stay. I am sorry you were missing some necessities and had you called, I would have made sure that you received these items immediately. None of our homes have salt/pepper, paper products or aluminum foil in them prior to guest arrival. For hygiene and sanitary reasons, we do not provide these things and try hard to make sure that is clear in the prearrival information. We thank you again for your feedback and hope that we see you next year!

Spring family vacation 2016
This was a great vacation house . The fenced in yard for the fur babies was really nice . Location was perfect , right between Austin seafood and I said pier. Heated pool and hot tub were very nice. I called the rental company with a couple of concerns and they were taken care of immediately. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this house to friends. Only thing I would add more lighting in the house in the kitchen and living room, and the bottom level.

Great time at the beach!!!
We stayed a week in March at Happy Dog Days. We were so happy to find a rental house that welcomed our furry friends. Everything was clean and well maintained. Plenty of room to spread out. Loved the fenced in yard for the dogs. Very close to beach access and there were many restaurants and shops nearby. Couldn't have asked for a better place for vacation. We loved every minute of it! Would definately stay at this property again.

What a perfect "babymoon" with our dogs!
Such an amazing vacation rental. We absolutely loved our stay. The locals were so friendly and the food was amazing and fresh. We took this opportunity to spoil our dogs with their first beach vacation before their new baby brother arrives. It was a dream come true.

Excellent place for dogs (and their humans)
We found this house to be one of the best places on the outer banks if your are traveling with pets. The dog yard was beyond perfect (not one burr in the grass) it was a large enough area for them to play (which was good because the weather was not the best for taking walks. As for the humans we had a great time, elevator was perfect for our 86 yo mother. There was plenty of room for everyone since the weather was not cooperating with our plans for outside activities. There were a few minor issues that were promptly addressed by the service person. Could not have asked for a better vacation home. Will definitely be renting here again next year. It hit every single must have for our family.

Doggone Perfect!
We were beyond surprised and extremely happy with our vacation rental this year. I will admit I was very nervous only because of some of the reviews I've read and I had my 83 yr old mom coming with us along with our fury friends. I was afraid there would be an odor of previous dogs and possibly not as clean as we would like. COMPLETELY not the case though. Beautifully decorated and very well cleaned upon arrival. The pool area was great and the fenced in dog area was spotless. Would totally recommend to anyone in fact I have already. Thank you for the use of your beautiful "doggy" home. Only issue was dryer as stated in previous reviews, no big deal though, your vent going outside must be clogged.

Amazing home!
We just got back from a wonderful week spent at this awesome home! The layout and design is perfect for a large family. There are plenty of places to he together and play games or get away and have solitude. All of the thoughtful features for our furry friends were a blessing. The fenced in backyard was perfect for the dogs (no stickers in feet). We played countless hours of volleyball and corn hole with our teenagers every night while the dogs hung out with us. Kitchen very well stocked, furniture and beds very comfortable. Decor is amazing. Love the speakers in the ceiling, super close and easy beach access and amazing views! Will definitely be back! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!
