We enjoyed our stay at York so much that we have already booked for next year! We loved the view from our house and the close beach access. It is convenient to the town in Duck and 20 minute drive from the grocery store. Our beds were comfortable and plenty of space for everyone. We’re looking forward to spending time at York next year!

Great location, close to downtown Duck, and ocean front with windows in every room to enjoy the view. Mostly clean, and did not smell like dog at all, which was a hug plus for being a dog friendly home! Loved the layout of the house and the decor. Only improvements might be to pull up the caulk to remove mold around bathtubs. Also the grill was very dirty and almost unusable, but my husband was able to salvage it and use it.

We loved this house. It was clean, the furnishings we nice, beds were comfortable. The layout of the house was open and roomy.

Very well maintained home and the only drawback was the beach access was right beside the home. We have a miniature dach who does not like big dogs and there were dogs coming and going all day long. The staff was great!!

This is the second time I have rented the York in Duck, NC. It is the perfect size and I love that it is right on the beach with easy access to the ocean. It’s a great little house with just about everything you might need. We shared with another couple and we each had our own floor with king size beds and bathroom so it’s very quiet and separate. There are two other rooms on each floor with single beds that are perfect for children.
The main living room could use a new TV which seemed on the fritz. The management was willing to come fix it quickly but we didn’t really need that.
This house does not have screens on the windows and didn’t last year. We come in the off-season so it’s not a problem with bugs but could be when it’s a buggy time of year.

Very comfortable home with the best views! We had relaxing week and saw whales (yes!!), porpoise and so many birds! Appreciated being able to bring our dog and enjoyed long walks on the beach. Everything worked perfectly and our one call to management was quickly handled.

I have stayed here a number of times with my daughter and our dog. Love the location and the house. Love being close to the beach and the town of Duck.

We had a great stay and really enjoyed our trip to Duck. This was our second time staying in York. It’s a great home but is due for a deep clean. Lots of dust this time and the cleaners did not do a good job flipping the property between stays. We had snack wrappers on the couch, toothpaste still in sinks...easy stuff to deal with but not what you’d expect walking into the house day 1.

York is in a beautiful spot with lovely views! The space was perfect for our group of 8 adults and 2 small dogs!
Understanding that we came in towards the end of the season, this house needed what I would think of as routine maintenance. It looked as if it hadn’t been dusted in ages with the downstairs windowsills having dead bugs and dog hair on them. The rest of the house was cleaned “okay” but definitely not up to par with the cleaning fee paid. We cleaned it ourselves the first evening and then enjoyed our stay.
The yard was overgrown and my hubby had to cut back some weeds in order to be able to use the grill. Compared to the beautifully manicured rentals around us, York needed some attention.
We had a couple of maintenance issues and the property management was quick to respond. (They were also willing to send another cleaning crew in, but we had already taken care of it.)
If you like stiff as a board mattresses which 3 in our party did, then you will like the beds.
All of the above aside, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the York with some caveats.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, you all ordered perfect weather for us and we loved the deck the balcony deck off top floor bedroom was so nice we enjoyed it very much. We look forward to next year at the same home.

Clean with comfortable chairs and beds. Wonderful view for exception of a new construction project 2 doors down that is building a structure out toward the beach which is blocking the beach view to the left (how is this legal)? Peaceful and quiet as no other renters next door. We liked the location just N of Duck very much. We had trouble getting connected wifi (password was wrong and we had to disable our wireless) but management helped us several times and was very responsive. Has dunes still which is a very nice feature! We didn't need the outside shower as April but shower head completely busted up. As others have mentioned there is not one screen on any window. Would be nice to have just a few in the bedrooms as some people actually like to listen to the ocean sounds at night. Happy that not so huge as there were only 2 of us but could easily work for 4 - 6.

YORK was an adorable, oceanfront house with spectacular views of the sunrises the beach and the waves each day. It was perfectly suited for a small party (two of us) and one small dog, altho it could accommodate more. It was attractively furnished and outfitted with absolutely everything we needed. We definitely hope to come back to this little spot of beach perfection again!

Great Ocean Vacation in a very uncrowded area this time of year. Our kids came and surprised us for a couple of days and they too loved the house and location. Home has everything needed to enjoy a great vacation. (Keurig did not work) Second year at this great location!!

We loved being able to sit in the living room and watch the waves. Lovely deck - we ate outside when the weather was nice and enjoyed watching the moon come up over the water. Great location, nicely decorated house comfortable furniture and beds and well equipped kitchen. Would highly recommend it.

We have visited this home each year for more than 15 years. Each year there are a few upgrades which make the home a great value.

We loved York! Perfect location with easy beach access. Beach equipment - chairs, umbrellas and lots of toys for little ones. Kitchen and pantry were beyond well stocked.

We had a couple maintenance issues that were immediately taken care of. As stated in previous post, upstairs den and stairwell doesn't have power and main level couches need replacing (says "new" in July 2022 on the website).

We would definitely recommend this property!

We loved the location! The easy beach access, outdoor shower, panoramic views, and common areas were all highlights. Small repairs weee needed, and while friendly, the maintenance man seemed unprepared and failed to fix anything properly. Also, while we understand that screened windows accelerate interior aging along oceanfront, a couple more upstairs would be really nice. Outlets &lights upstairs not all working, door knob upstairs to deck broken. Couches broken down. More expected at this price!

We didn’t hear the night owls, and they didn’t hear our baby with her 6am wake up call! It had been four years since our last stay, and we are impressed with the improvements made around the house. We look forward to seeing more updates, like the carpet stairs (loose carpet had to be adjusted often so we didn’t trip) and the back deck. (We LOVE this deck. Some loose nails/boards had us a little concerned for safety.) The coffee bar is a new addition and was a perfect area to keep our cooler underneath and prepare all of our drinks. The location of this house is wonderful. Being next to the walkway to the beach is a great convenience when vacationing with kids. We had to come back to this house in particular, knowing there is a view of the ocean in almost any place you stand. We are already counting down to our next visit. See you again soon, York!

Relaxing - this house is well equipped and well maintained.

We loved the location and the style of the York. It was perfect for us because it was dog friendly.
The only suggestions I have for improvement: There were only 2 screens for the windows, the other screens were missing so we were not able to open windows. My husband was able to locate two broken screens from the storage area that we used. The other issues we had were fairly minor: the couch had a broken spring so it was uncomfortable. And some of the lamps had lampshades that didn’t sit right.
Aside from those issues I have to say that I loved the place!!!!

The location and view are amazing! We had a wonderful time staying here as a family, including our dogs.

We had a perfect family getaway at the York property. Beautiful ocean views from almost every room. You could hear the waves crashing down day and night which I love! The deck was large and perfect for hanging out. Beach was steps away. Hot tub was relaxing with views of the ocean as well. Kitchen was well equipped. Close to restaurants and shopping. Pictures don’t do the views justice. Will definitely be back again!

Absolutely love the Outer Banks, was very pleased with this property. Great locatiin, ocean views from all over the house. I would definitely stay at York again. Two annoying aspects, fridge filter needs to be changed for the ice and water dispenser. As well as the hot tub cover was two pieces of styrofoam would be nice to invest in a real more convenient cover.

This is a great beach house! We loved sitting on the deck to watch the sunrise. House was very clean when we arrived. Very spacious living room and kitchen. The bathrooms seemed to have been recently updated and were pretty spacious. Also, the hot water was great! No issues for all of us to get a nice hot shower! Our only issue was a slow wifi - the router was back in a master bedroom so if it were moved closer to the tv or in the living room that would probably help.

We had a great time. House was perfect for the family. Shadow assisted me a few times and did a fantastic job! We plan on staying again next year.

Overall, the house was nice. The biggest issue we had was that the wifi strength was too weak to run Roku for the Living Room TV, which had an impact on our stay since it rained most of the week. The other TVs worked well enough because they were closer to the modem. The Surround speakers also do not work so we couldn't listen to music either. The kitchen was very well stocked and the layout of the house easily could accommodate two families. Allowing a dog was a huge plus. The house was very clean.

Many improvements made since our last stay.We want to come back gain. ONLY problem, TV. It never worked properly. I would recommend it be checked between each rental. We were pleased that Beach Realty honored our request for a partial I said, we would like to return next year for our 5th year. Dr. Robert Kirkman

Minor things-The deck chairs were all broken;the mbr fan was still in need of replacement (2nd year) and the refrigerator water filter was out (2nd year) Please remove the posts along the drive; they are rotted and are a hazard! The location as always was marvelous

This house was perfect for our family of four. We had a couple of empty rooms but it's hard to find small houses this perfectly located on the beach. The house was very clean and uncluttered. Very comfortable living space with plenty of room for us to play games at the big dining table or watch movies. The deck looking out at the beach had a picnic table so we were able to eat meals there while enjoying the view. Our week in the house was a cold/rainy one for the most part (first week of April) but when the sun did come out, we were able to walk right out onto the beach. It was wonderful! I have no complaints about this property and would definitely stay in this house again. I also must say that our experience with Beach Realty was nothing short of perfect. It's the second time we've used them for rentals and both times were great experiences. We received a call the morning after we checked in to make sure everything was alright. We also received text alerts checking in during the week. But upon arrival all beds were properly made, we had all the towels we needed, the keycode worked, and the house was spotless - so no issues to report! We won't likely use another rental company for future trips to the OBX.

Our first time in Duck. Cottage was great and well equipped for cooking, sleeping and viewing the ocean. New TVs and bathrooms were nice. We found the layout provided very good sound isolation between the kitchen/great room and sleeping areas. Parking for 2 cars is great and sheltered on the ground floor. Super easy beach access. The only downsides were a very poor Internet connection an floor vents in the bathrooms too close to the toilet .. brrr ..

Great - the house was clean, the view was awesome. The king beds definitely need to be replaced - felt as though I was sleeping in a hammock. Other than that - LOVED IT!

We have stayed at York for more than 10 years in a row. The house is not the fanciest house on the beach and that is what we like about the home. Location, Location, Location!!! Because the house is located on the beach and is not one of these massive McMansions it is a great value. Our pets enjoy the home and having direct access to the beach. We hope this house stays just like it is and does not try to become mimic some of the homes near by. It is all a person/family needs to enjoy the beach. We look forward to next years visit to York.

We had a wonderful stay at this ocean front home in Carolina Dunes. There were a couple of issues with buggy windows and deck (outside) but the property manager was very quick to send a power washing company to resolve the issue. The property inside had new appliances and bedroom carpets and was pretty clean. What made the entire stay was the view from our living room and the proximity of the ocean. This was our first time staying ocean front and I don't know that we could ever rent anything else.

The house was a perfect size for our family of 6, our four children being teens to young adults. You could probably do two families if the kids were little. We liked that the bedrooms were split on two levels. We also loved the outdoor shower. The mattresses in the two king rooms were a little soft for our taste, and the kitchen needs a stronger blender. It did not have ice crushing ability for the frozen drinks we wanted.

All our family members rated this vacation a 10, which is pretty impressive and largely in part to our ocean front rental. We had quiet nights playing games or doing puzzles, and one night went out for ice cream. I recommend the front upper level deck for sunsets and the ocean side deck for the best stargazing I've ever experienced. It was like a planetarium. We had a great time parasailing and jet skiing at NorBanks, a couple blocks away. They have discounts on Tuesdays.

Duck Donuts was great, as was Blue Point back deck for drinks and live music. We used our two free tix at the OBX water park, but be prepared lines are very long and food is expensive. One other thing we did was rented 3 bikes for the week. They were rented through the company that works with Kitty Hawk rentals and they delivered and picked up the bikes on time. Great for an early morning or afternoon jaunt.

The dogs loved it. We could shut them off from the stairs while they enjoyed watching all the activities on the beach. Good location with oceanfront views from everywhere in the house. Washer & dryer located in kitchen which was great for us. Beds were nice. Electrical outlets & light switches somewhat of a mystery. We reported that. We also finally located the wifi router & info in a cupboard. TV's very small so it helped us stay away & enjoy reading & walking on the beach. I would give it 5 stars for the views & closeness to the beach Only 4 stars for everything else. Carpet could have smelled better in upstairs bedroom.

The location couldn't be beat. The house has an amazing view of the ocean, and the house was close enough to the town of Duck to walk and not too far from the grocery stores to keep the house stocked. Although an older property, the house was well maintained and the kitchen well outfitted. The layout of the house was great.

Comfortable and enjoyable

Overall, this cottage is comfortable and well located, perched above a dune with views of the beach below. Although there is a shared public walkway to the beach,the deck alongside the walkway blocks your view of the pedestrians so its not that annoying (except at night when loud-mouths congregate on the beach). There is NO HALF BATH as mentioned in the cottage description. Kitchen drawer near sink is falling apart - new cabinets needed. New mattresses are wonderful. Very homey feel but dated. Okay with me as I prefer a 40 year old cottage to a new poorly constructed one any day. Nice outside shower and fish cleaning area. Foot wash at bottom of steps so you can keep your feet clean and sand-free after beach fun (as long as you keep the steps swept). Our dogs would have given this a great review (once the smoke alarm "chirps" stopped). Both dogs loved watching all the beach action from the deck. And what a plus that the afternoon sun puts almost half of the deck in the shade by Noon. DSL WiFi is dissapointing but works for Ipads; TV should be cable -- satellite choices not too hot. Bring your own movies and be ready to solve the "puzzle" of how to get the living room entertainment system to work! Instructions are needed. Screens badly needed at kitchen window for sure and all living room windows. This place was built to catch ocean breezes and unfortunately you'll only get BUGS with the windows open. Since we were here in late May it wasn't so bad the few times we opened the windows. If you like air conditioning then this won't be an issue. Any day of wave-watching is a good day for me so the fantastic views from this place override most "problems"! I would stay here again. :)
