The Sailfish - D0311

The family vacation was wonderful. The walking distance to the beach was a little further that we anticipated. Upgrades are needed with cooking utensils, toilets and mattresses are old and very uncomfortable. Pillows and mattresses covers had stains on them. Just a few things that need attention. Overall, we had a great time with family. We loved visiting Duck. The pool and hot tub was a huge hit.

This property was a good fit for our family we really enjoyed the layout and the amentities.
We were disappointed that the cues for the shuffle board game were missing. The basketball hoop was broken. We also felt the property could have been cleaner. The light fixture above the sink was broken even after trying to replace the bulbs nothing worked. We were so pleased with the overall layout we decided we would return again next year Hopefully the issues we documented and sent off to the real estate company will be resolved for our next visit. I would also like to add the bathrooms and the floors were immaculate except under the furniture And the kitchen also was clean with the exception of the microwave.The beds were extremely comfortable. The walk to the beach was about 10 houses away 10 houses away not bad at all you can see the ocean from the 3rd floor loft only you can also see the sound from the 2nd floor porch 2nd floor porch also has a view of beautiful sunsets. The view of the night sky and the moon from the pool side porch is just incredible.the screened in porch with the hot tub was also a nice treat!

Overall we had a tremendous vacation in Duck! We had 13 guests (all family): 6 adults, 5 young adults, 2 kids, and one dog. We had enough beds for all guests, some with a shared bath, but overall the sleeping conditions were good.
The house was clean, but it definitely shows signs of wear and tear. The coach appears spotty, but it seemed clean. The kitchen was a little outdated, but it definitely worked for us. We cooked all our meals at the house with no problem.
The first day we needed a replacement coffee maker and the rental company was awesome, we had it within hours.
The location is great, right between the sound and the ocean, just a short walk to the beach.
The pool was great, very clean.
It was really nice having outdoor seating on the porches.
The hot tub looks a little worn, but I was not interested in getting in, so it was fine with me.
Overall, I think it is a little outdated and worn, but it had everything we needed for a fantastic week.
The loft is a nice touch with two futons and several good books on the bookselves.

Our family had a great time. The house was conveniently located to the beach, the sound and shops.

This budget-friendly rental is located just north of the Duck town center, easily accessible via a quick 10-minute bike ride. It's on the ocean side of Duck Rd., but situated closer to the Sound - both are a very manageable, quick walk away.

The property is spacious with 5 bedrooms on the main level, an additional bedroom on the bottom level and a loft area on the third level with two futons. The pool is also a good size and there is a hot tub located in a screened porch area.

Overall, we had a great stay and enjoyed the proximity to everything. Our only complaint was the overall age/datedness of the property. Put simply, pretty much everything is old and could use some TLC and updates. The outdoor area, in particular - from the ground level and pool to the stairs and wraparound deck - are all in disrepair and dirty. We also found some cockroaches both inside and out. It would also be nice to have a simple table on the deck and/or in the pool area to enjoy meals. It was disappointing not to have anywhere to eat dinner outside.

If you are looking for a budget-friendly house for a large group, this is a great option. Just be prepared that this isn't a 5-star experience.

Last, we did find a few things not working during our stay and when we finally realized we could put in a ticket to get them fixed, Beach Realty was extremely responsive and had repair people out nearly immediately. Great service!

We had a great vacation at The Sailfish! We loved the pool and hit tub - we enjoyed the close proximity to the beach! The house was perfect for all the extended family that arrived throughout the week! The number of bathrooms and bedrooms was perfect! House was clean and in good order the rental company responded immediately when we were short of towels and gave a whole bag of extras! Would totally rent from then again and rent this house!

We had a great time at The Sailfish. The house was spacious enough for all of us and the big great room on the main floor was great for everyone to be together. The only issue we had was there was a storm and that storm made the pool very dirty which was a downer. The rental agency got it taken care of though. One other thing to note is that all the bathrooms require you to walk in a bedroom for use. This was not an issue for us as we were close family but was a little strange of a layout. The house is great location, close to everything and a short walk to the sound or the ocean.

Excellent. Perfect house for our family. Easily stays cool.great for smaller kids as well. Not the most modern but that was not important. The layout was perfect in every way.

An older home but nice. Good location. Pool wasn't open but made use of the hot tub. No cable or internet for first 4 days. Fixed but didn't work well at all. If pool had been open wouldn't have been an issue at all. Would like to go back again during summer when pool open.

When we arrived the home smelled clean and the carpets seemed new. The kitchen was filled with everything you would need for your stay (blender, electric flat grittle, toaster, Crock pot, etc.). The only thing we did notice is that there wasn't a place to put our dry groceries (pantry) which left us with a counter full of bags and boxes. The air conditioner wasn't working on the 3rd floor or master bedroom on the 1st floor when we arrived. We called the office and a maintenance man arrived within a few hours and fixed the problem. The house also didn't have a basket ball which was a disappointment to our sons. At the end of the week a man showed up with a brand new basket ball for them to use. There are 4 bathrooms in the home but all are connected to a bedroom, so there are no common baths for someone to use unless they enter through a bedroom. The TV's were confused using to use. You had to learn the remote which usually didn't work without a few minutes of figuring it out. It would have been helpful to have directions by each television. The pool was crystal clean when we arrived and the hot tub was nice and warm. We liked that we could control the temperature of the water. We had 3 deer visit the property one morning. We rented 4 bikes from a local bike rental company. We had 3 deer visit the property one morning. We also rented bikes from Duck Cycle (about $7 a day per bike). The bikes were delivered before our arrival and they picked them up after we left. We enjoyed riding them into town to Duck Doughnuts and to the beach for fishing and swimming. This was a relaxing and fun filled vacation that our family will never forget!

The house was plenty big enough. Great location, loved the beach, and the views. Couldn't see the ocean but could here it from the decks. The grand-kids loved the pool and hot tub. Management was good, cleaners not so much had to do some cleaning. However happy with our stay over all. The house could use a little TLC but overall a nice house. Was our first time staying in duck love the area. Also our first time with Beach Realty will rent with them again. One last thing A must do while staying in Duck is Duck Donuts OMG!!! Thanks Beth

Every year I host our family beach house vacation . We have 4 generations and many different ideas of fun! This house was our favorite so far❤️. It was easy for those that need quiet or those that needed room for noise��! Outstanding views of the sound and the ocean and and easy walk to either one.Big hugs and Thank you to " the sailfish " house for some of our greatest beach house memories yet❤️

We had decided we would like to return to the Duck area as we had visited three years before. We have stayed in the Outer Banks probably 15 times or more in the last 20 years. This property had everything we needed and it seemed to be several hundred dollars less than other comparable properties. We were a diverse group with my wife and I in our mid 60s, my son, daughter and their spouses in their early 40s, grandsons 21,20,17,and 15; and a grandaughter age 8. Because of this we needed things that appealed to lots of different interests. The pool was great, and believe it or not everyone enjoyed the shuffleboard. The 3rd floor room with futons became a popular hangout for the older boys. The boys also rented bikes to get back and forth to town. The town of Duck is not as busy as other parts of OBX but there were things to do. Our stay was in late May/early June and some of the activities had not started yet. As far as complaints there are only a few minor issues. Two of the bed mattresses were uncomfortable and probably needed replaced. One of the couches in the great room was pretty hard. Some minor outdoor maintenance issues like spot painting, gate hinges could use some attention (just like my home) but I am really searching hard to identify problems. We have stayed in more upscale houses, and we also paid more money. Overall I think we got a lot of house for the money. It was roomy and had many features.

We absolutely loved the Sailfish and we will be back. We have rented for past six years now and by far, Beach Realty was the best.
The property was cleaned and well maintained. We did however need to suggest they consolidate the maintenance visits to one day per week and call before the visit, as we had quiet a few people coming and going the first week. However, Beach Realty was more than accommodating to help us resolve that issue expeditiously.
The kids loved the pool table, the shuffle board, the horse shoes, the basketball net, and of course, the pool. We had some brutal days of sun and heat so we were so happy to have the shaded areas to recreate.

was our 3rd year at the Sailfish. 15 of us The loft was the perfect place for our 17 and 18 year old boys to have their privacy. New deck chairs. The outdoor shower was redone and usable this year. We loved it and the price was absolutely right!

We would like to thank the home owner and Beach Realty for helping to make our vacation excellent, in Sailfish. There was 15 of us, we had plenty of room ,and parking for our bikes. We have already booked Sailfish for 2017. The location was great, Quiet,and very homely. We where visited each day by the local Deer.

Nice house, lots of room, plenty of dishes and great open Kitchen. Electronics, TV, were not the best. Good internet system.

Our week was wonderful in that the weather was fabulous and our house had plenty of space. It was a perfect location as well with a short walk to the beach and access to the main road and the trail through Duck. However, we found the home not as clean as we would have expected (dead bugs literally hanging above the stove) and with a little TLC, the place could be so much more comfortable and accommodating. It lacked towel hooks in the bathrooms and there was no can opener in the entire place for example. We did buy a can opener and we were kind enough to donate it to future vacationers.

older but beautiful home. The set up is perfect for a couple of families. Kitchen nicely stocked with everything you could need including plenty of utensils. Any problems were addressed immediately. All air filters desperately need replaced. Great stay overall!

We recently rented The Sailfish through Beach Realty. This was not our first time on the Outer Banks (previously stayed in Nags Head and Rodanthe) but it was our first time in Duck and our first time with Beach Realty. First off, we loved Duck. It is a quaint, quiet town -- not a ton of commercial attractions, but instead a wonderful well-laid out town. Being a bit off-season (i.e., prior to Memorial Day), the town was not crowded and traffic was light.

The house was wonderful. It was clean and probably had the most well-stocked kitchen that I have ever encountered in a rental home. There are no worries here -- if you want to cook to save a bit of money, you have everything at your fingertips (i.e., ever imaginable pot and pan, crock pot, toaster, cheese grater, measuring cups, baking sheets, muffin pans, etc.) -- I'm a huge foodie and they had more stuff than even I do. The beds were comfortable and everything listed in the description was accurate. The only thing I was unable to locate was the playstation and the dartboard (but I could have missed them). Location was perfect -- you can see the Sound from the decks and the ocean is a short walk up the street.

We loved the decks and the pool area -- the decks could do with a bit of updating as there were some loose nails and splinters, but nothing major. The house is pet-friendly and we brought our two Boston Terriers. You could not even tell that there had ever been another dog in the house and the furniture and carpeting was in good shape. The furnishings in the main part of the house are a bit dated, but very comfortable.

Dealing with Beach Realty was a pleasure -- they were very responsive and answered all questions. Check-in was a breeze (we left before they opened on Sunday morning) but we stopped in during the week to pre-reserve the house for next year and they were very professional and instantly e-mailed us a receipt for the deposit.
