Nice beach vacay
The house was very roomy. The kitchen table is so huge that you have to pass food one to another. We loved the two refrigerators and two dishwashers. However, the one stovetop was difficult to cook everything on at the same time. The dryer went out while we were there and was not repaired for us to use. One of the dishwashers also stopped working. It would be nice is the decks connected. You have to go out each individual level by coming back inside. The hot tub had a great view. The pool is beautiful but wished we could have turned off the waterfalls to hear the ocean alone.

A great week at the beach
We had a great time at big mama’s house,gorgeous weather,very relaxing.The house was clean for the most part. The kids loved the pool but the sprinklers are loud and it’s hard to hear the ocean waves but the views are beautiful and the pier being so close was another highlight for the kids and they enjoyed getting some fishing in. One other thing was kids wanted to watch a movie in the theater room and the tv did not work. Would stay here again.

Fantastic & Beautiful very large home with plenty of space to accomodate all of us. Superb ocean views, equipped kitchen with 2 refrigerators plus another one in the basement was perfect! Convenient to beach and shopping. No maintenance issues. Beach Realty communicated frequently to make sure we had a great stay!

Big mamas was an awesome house with awesome amenities. I really wish that we did not have stormy weather the whole time we were there. We did not use the pool due to the cold weather and wind. We had some brave souls get in the hot tub, even though it was as if he would fly away. Lol. For the price I paid, I was hoping I would be able to use the backyard, but you cannot predict the weather. Thankfully, there was a game room that kept a lot of us busy. Specially the teenagers there was TVs in every room, which kept the little kids. Happy with cartoons. The kitchen was big enough to make anything we wanted. All in all it went well. I just wish I would’ve been able to play in the backyard more with my kids.
And as far as the maintenance team, they were great at one point the gate to the hot tub flew off in the wind literally and they came the next day and fixed it which I was glad because it was nail sticking out of it. And they replaced the microwave above the stove, that was not working. The only thing in the kitchen that really needs to be fixed now is the stove itself one of the burners don’t work which when you are making a lot of food for a lot of people you need that fourth burner. But everything else seem to work perfectly fine , the beds are surprisingly comfortable due to them putting pillow top inserts on all the beds. The kids did say that the little bids are not very comfortable but all of the king size beds were some of the children ended up in the beds with their parents lol.

A Week at Big Mama's
We had a wonderful time at Big Mama's house. The weather was perfect to sit out on the decks. The upper deck was really the only place to be able to see the ocean because of the dune out in front. If you are going to visit and have kids bring games, we bought 2 and left them there but they didn't have any at all. The pool table could also use some TLC, but really other then that the week was awesome. Management was very helpful and addressed our 1 problem while there in a very timely manner and very well mannered and professional. Would definately recommend spending a week here especially if you live up north and want to get away from the snow in February.

A Family Vacation
Our entire family joined us for a week at Big Mama's in Nags Head. We enjoyed all of the amenities, the private pool, the game room, the elevator, the outdoor spaces, the pet accommodations, etc. Being on the beach was great! There was a lot of quality restaurants and shopping nearby. Big Mamas is perfect for a large group. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. A large dining table. We made good use of the space. Big Mamas could use some tweeks in the technology. Not all of the TVs worked. It could have been a bit cleaner. Overall we had a great time and would recommend the beach house and the location.

Big Mamma’s was a Big Hit!
So my father told my siblings that he wanted to see the ocean “one last time”. We chose OBX because It was where we always went growing up. The hard part was finding a handicapped accessible oceanfront house that was really handicapped accessible. Thank goodness for Big Mama’s! It was the perfect fit! As a bonus , we took a 5 month old puppy and thank goodness, dogs were allowed and they had a baby gate to keep the pup in one part of the house!
The house is 3 floors with the handicapped room on the bottom level which was fine, but in some ways wish It was on top level do my parents could wake up to the ocean view, but It was fine. The elevator was great, but a little tricky going from first to 3rd floor at times( my mother got stuck once and someone had to ride with her every time after that.
The only other cons we’re that It was not the cleanest when we arrived, but we cleaned It. The realty company did offer to clean It, but we were settled so It was fine. It was just certain areas, not whole house. The only other con would be that there wasn’t a handicapped access to the beach directly from house. My parents could not do the stars. We did rent a handicapped beach wheelchair, but you had to go down the road to access the beach which my parents decided was too much. They did love the pool and we helped them in/out. All in all, we had the best time and our goal was accomplished! My parents are still raving about sitting on the deck watching and gearing the ocean and being with their family. Thank you!!!

Another great family week in the OBX!!
Great oceanfront location, plenty of well-appointed bedrooms and space with amazing hardwood and tile throughout common areas made cleanup the best of any place we've ever stayed, pool on the small side with waterfalls that can't be turned off - kids loved it, adults gathered on the top porch to talk instead, some of the usual rental things like needing to figure out how to reconnect A/V equipment, missing kitchen gear, nothing major to detract from an amazing week, thank you for renting out your beautiful place!

Great house, but beware, no mid level seating area.
Overall we had a great week. We spent most of our time inside the house since the weather was rainy and cold with a very strong NE wind. But for March, you never know what you will get, LOL. Only had 4 in our group, so the seating in the top level living area was great for us, as were the 2 Tv's. But beware, it you have a full house, there is no longer a sectional in the mid level living area. It now has a treadmill and exercise bike. Not a problem, unless you have weather that keeps you inside. Theater room was also nice.

Thomas Family Visit - Jan 21
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our week at Big Momma’s – one of the best places we've stayed in our numerous Outer Banks visits! House was very clean when we arrived. Really loved the art throughout – both paintings & statues. We have already recommended it, or one of the 3 neighboring houses, to others.
Waveriders got great reviews for service/food!!
I mention these “housekeeping” items – none is a big deal but thought you should know:
• Wood shutters on the north side. The wood “props” holding the shutters open had fallen off 2 of the windows (3rd floor bathroom & 2nd floor bedroom over the entertainment room). The screen had fallen off of at least one. As a result, they creaked as they swung in the wind and banged against the frame which was distracting at night. I secured both with a strip of ribbon tied around the nail on each of the shutters and knotted on the inside of the window. The “props” were left in the house.
• Toilet in the second floor bedroom with the pink walls would run after being flushed unless the handle was pulled up and held for a bit.
• The top rack on the dishwasher on the west side of the kitchen would not stay in place.
• Would have been nice to have instructions on operating the fireplace. We have a similar model so not a problem but can see others might be frustrated trying to start it.
• No WIFI connectivity in 1st floor entertainment room + no instructions on using the equipment – as a result we could not use it. Again instructions would be nice (did not seen a homeowners binder like we have in other OBX houses) – as would an advance notice to bring our own DVDs to view since there were only 3 in the house.
• A lot of big spoons in the kitchen but not so many small ones - tough for young kids in the group.
• Lots of kit

Nice Getaway
We had a great stay. The location was great and loved being on the beach. The only complaint about the house would be the beds. Most of the beds were very noisy and uncomfortable.

Perfect way to ring in the New Year
We had a great time at Big Mama's. The location is absolutely perfect and the set up of the house was great. Very spacious and well thought out. The kids (and adults) loved the game room and the theater room. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking items. The view from the back deck is amazing-we enjoyed the sunrise most mornings.
Things to consider if looking at this rental:
There are a lot of steps to and from the beach, so consider your group when renting.
We didn't have access to the pool (winter), so I can't review, but the hot tub was great.
There is an outdoor fireplace that we had hoped to use, unfortunately that was not available.
Bedding and pillows are not great - although I think I saw that they are upgrading this year.
Handicap bathroom and elevator were a huge plus for us!
I would definitely rent again.

Awesome family getaway
Our family visited the first week of June this year. The weather was nice. We enjoyed the house very much. The layout was perfect for us. It allowed for as much together time as we liked but roomy enough for some alone time as needed. The kitchen was well stocked which was a definite plus because we typically cook or order in. The decks were nice. Did notice a few loose boards- one on the beach walkway that we had to frequently replace as it would fall out of place leaving a gapping hole. The lounge chairs at the pool were in good shape but several of the cabana chairs were broken. So all in all it could use just some “refreshing” touches. Overall would definitely rent this property again. Due to covid- many businesses require masks. Plan ahead future guests. Until we meet again OBX- thanks for the memories.

Big Mama's 2019
This is our 3rd consecutive year staying at Big Mamas. We really love the property and you couldn't ask for a better location. Every year we seem to have issues with the pool and hot tub. The hot tub was leaking water everywhere and the pool did not sustain its temp. The overall feel of the house this year from everyone was that it was time for her( The house) to get a little love. The smoke detectors went off each night as in past years and the storm shutters were in disrepair. The bedding needs replacing. She is just starting to look tired. That being said, it's still an amazing place!! We will not be returning next year. I think we all need a year off, but with some love, I would highly recommend this property to friends and family.

Family Vacation at OBX 2018
Had a wonderful time. House was perfect for our family. Loved the elevator. Made it easy for arrival & departure. Very spacious. So glad it is dog friendly because we love our fur babies. They love the beach as much as we do.
Would recommend a few maintenance items to be looked at. Outdoor furniture needs to be looked at & some of the sliders need locks fixed. Gas grill needs a real good cleaning. Unfortunately there was no propane in it to use it though so we couldn’t use it.

Big mamas house
We had a great time staying at Bog Mamas House!! The entire family loved it! The only thing I would add to the house is a small ramp at the lower front entrance making the house handicap accessible instead of friendly. My husband is in a wheelchair and the front little step wasn’t terrible and I could manage on my own but the step to pool was way to big to get him up there. It required to guys to pick him up... so maybe change that step as well... the elevator was great for us and made all the floors accessible to my husband! We will definitely stay here again.

2018 April Big Mommas
This is our second visit at this house. We love the location and the house covers all of our needs as we have rebooked for next year again. Kitchen is fully stocked and in working order. New refrigerator is a great addition. We had three issues while we were there, 1. the tv's all needed to be fixed the cable company had to come out to fix the problem which took about 4 hrs. We appreciated the quick response. All but 4 remotes did not have any batteries so we needed to purchase them and we left them for the next renters. 2. The 2 swivel chairs on the top floor (main living room)are very dirty so we covered them in sheets during our stay. Additionally the rug in that same space should really be replaced. 3. We did have an issue with the heat in the pool, which caused us not to be able to swim for 2 days of the vacation. Again, the personnel in the office were ALWAYS helpful and called back several times to make sure things were getting fixed and that we were satisfied. We love this house and are already looking forward to next year. You do an amazing job at making sure tour renters are happy. THANK YOU!!!

Great Spring Break!!
We had a great time on our Spring Break at Big Mama's! We had a large combo of parents, grandparents, kids and dogs and everyone had a great time! The kid loved being able to hook up their video games on every level of the house, the grandparents loved being able to watch the ocean and the kids in the pool from the top floor. The parents loved the close proximity to restaurants and the amazing outdoor space and last but not least the dogs loved being steps away from a walk on the beach. The only issue we had was that the elevator was out of service during our stay. Other than that, the house had everything we needed. We've stayed with Beach Realty multiple times and when we come back to the Outer Banks we'll book with them again. They were even able to get us into the house a day early so we didn't have to drive through a snowstorm. I can't say enough about their customer service and willingness to go the extra mile to make their guests comfortable.

Big Mamas is Big Fun
Great house, great location. Hard house on knees due to the many stairs inside and the ones outside to get to beach. Needs NEW 3rd floor couches and chairs--they were filthy. The lights inside the pool didn't work either. Other than that, the house was great.

First Entire Family Vacation
Overall had a very enjoyable time. We had 3 elderly family members so the elevator was a great help. Having a heated pool available and no extra fee for it is fantastic. The inside of the house was very clean. The outside could have used some touch up. The pool area needed swept. The outside toilet looked like it had not been cleaned all summer so it wasn't used. We couldn't get the fireplace by the pool to work. Inside the woodwork through out the house is beautiful. The furniture was a little worn. The recliners in the theater room were very comfortable, but very hard to get the foot rest back down. TV's are everywhere, but needed the remotes programmed so you didn't need 2 for each TV. The kitchen was well stocked for whatever you needed. The table is great for a large family. There is a highchair available and the baby gate on the top floor kept my 2 year old grandson safe. The outdoor furniture on the top deck had a couple of the chairs broken and needed removed. The keyless entry is very convenient. Location is also very convenient to whatever you need. Overall we had a very enjoyable time and would rent Big MaMa's again. The weather was good just wish the fishing would have been better. We usually go to the OBX every Oct and this was the first time we didn't catch all we could handle. Usually there is a lot of bait fish running but this year we didn't see any. Stunning location.... great sunrise EVERY morning from the deck!
Our family enjoyed celebrating one anniversary and one birthday at this classic OBX beach home. We particularly enjoyed having everything we needed in the kitchen.... from an ice maker to two dishwashers, to plenty of dishes and cookware. The game room provided extra fun when the sun went down... loved seeing my husband pass on the pool playing skills to his grandson. It was our first time in over 20 years renting oceanfront... it may be hard to go back, now that we have had that experience again.

Loved the house! Great place for our reunion. Lots of space so you didn't feel like you were on top of each other. We had a few issues but Beach Realty handled them fairly promptly. The biggest issue is that the pool heat stopped working mid-week and it took a couple days for them to fix it which really impacted our vacation since we were there in May and the weather wasn't ideal.

Most relaxing vacation ever at Big Mama's
We had 4 families all with kids who have never vacationed together before. The house met all of our needs, so much room for us all to go to our own space if need be and you cannot beat the location. We have already reserved it for next year, same week! Being so close to the beach was amazing and just what we all needed. Being able to sit on the decks in the morning, coffee in hand watching the dolphins was so relaxing and unforgettable!

Quick Vacation
This house was awesome we loved that the elevator reached all 3 floors so it provided accessibility for my brother. It was also helpful unloading groceries and luggage. There was plenty of room for everyone and we didn't even utilize all of the bedrooms. We had 2 dogs that loved to utilize the dog run outside and the easy access to the beach. We will be back!

Big Mama
It was a wonderful house which nicely accommodated our party of 13 and could easily accommodate a larger family. There were volleyball nets and corn hole boards but we were extremely disappointed that there were no volleyballs or corn hole bean bags, Future parties reserving the home should be told in advance so they can bring them with them.

Newer cottage with the Old Charm
I rented this cottage for my family reunion at Christmas..had all we needed..furnished nicely and the view was beautiful..with the 75 degree weather, we could not have had a better gathering place.. just a few minor problems upon checking in, but Josh arrived immediately and handled everything professionally..

2015 Family Vacation

Awesome!
Fantastic house for a multi-generational family reunion. Had a great week with our family. Each room was comfortable and had it's own bath. The elevator came in handy for our older guests when we would gather for evening cocktails on the upper deck. The lower level had games to keep the kids entertained. The dogs loved waking on the beach with the rest of us. We rented SUPs, fished, and even had a bonfire one evening. We played volleyball, threw the frisbee, sunbathed etc. Location was central to many places to visit, and 1/2 mile from a grocery store. Would love to go back soon. Highly recommend!
